Laboratory-grown diamonds, also referred to as laboratory-created diamonds, are diamonds that are produced in advanced laboratories rather than being mined from the Earth. These diamonds are formed by replicating the same processes and environment that occur beneath the Earth's surface to create natural diamonds. The ability to successfully replicate this natural phenomenon is a result of cutting-edge technology and remarkable human ingenuity.

Diamonds that are grown in laboratories can be classified as genuine diamonds. It is important to acknowledge that they are recognized as such and are distinct from diamond simulants and imitation diamonds. These imitations, such as cubic zirconia and moissanite, have varying chemical and physical properties.

Laboratory-grown diamonds are composed of pure carbon and possess essentially the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. They also have the same crystal structure. In terms of durability and hardness, laboratory-grown diamonds can be worn just like natural diamonds.

The main difference between laboratory-grown and natural diamonds lies in their origin. Laboratory-grown diamonds are created using advanced methods in modern laboratories, while natural diamonds are formed by the Earth through a process that takes millions of years.

Advanced techniques and modern equipment are utilized to create Laboratory-grown diamonds, mimicking the intense forces and conditions that occur deep within the Earth's surface and lead to the formation of natural diamonds. The process starts with a diamond seed, consisting of pure carbon. Each grower employs their own specialized formulas and technology, with two primary approaches being used: High Pressure, High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD). The final product, in the form of a 'rough' diamond, is similar to those found in nature, and is then skillfully cut and polished for use in exquisite fine jewellery, engagement rings, and wedding bands.

Similar to natural diamonds, laboratory-grown diamonds develop distinct colors and inclusions, making each stone one-of-a-kind. Obtaining a perfect, unblemished laboratory-grown diamond is a rare occurrence.
